Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi was born in 1979 A.D i.e 1399 (h) on the 11TH day of November 1979A.D in Budroo Yaripora village of district Kulgam, in the dignified and religious family of Haji Sheikh Abdul Rehman
His early education started in 1984 from Govt. Middle School Badroo Yaripora after passing 8th standard joined Higher Secondary School Yaripora and passed the 10th class examination. The ancestral house of Maulana Dawoodi Sahib was known for the piousness and Islamic preaching and love of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which resulted in the spiritual development of Maulana Dawoodi. Maulana Dawoodi joined Idara Tehqeeqat- Islami Anantnag which is known for religious teaching and is a pioneer religious institute after the name of Shaheed Dr Qazi Nisar (A.R) wherefrom he was conferred with Molvi Degree.
Maulana Dawoodi did Moulvi Alim, Fazil as well as did Maters in Islamic Studies under the able guidance of Mufti Asadullah Nizami Misbahi. Inspired by the knowledge and experience of Maulana Dawoodi, Idara Tehqiqat-e-Islamia Anantnag appointed him as a teacher in the institute wherein he taught for more than three years. This was a period of turmoil for the Ahli- Sunnat sect. After the martyrdom of Dr Qazi Nisar (R.A) the whole sect of Ahle -Sunnat was in despondency and it was very difficult to fill the void created by the death of Alma Dr Qazi Nisar (R.A). As a result, Maulana Dawoodi tried his best and moved ahead with the torch of knowledge to transform society and moved forward the religious movement started by Dr Qazi Nisar(R.A). When the Muslim Ummah of Kashmir were in distress Maulana Davoodi became the torchbearer and preached the Umma with special focus on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and organized seminars and conferences to review the teachings of Prophets, Saints and Rishis. It was November 2005 that Maulana Dawoodi along with some religious scholars laid the foundation of an organization known as Sout-ul -Awliya (The voice of saints). The organization was introduced in an Islamic Conference held at Kehribal Anantnag where Maulana Dawoodi revealed the constitution of the organization among the galaxy of religious scholars and later on the foundation of the organization was laid down by the hands of Alama Yaseen Akhtar Misbai sahib
The organization provided a platform and in a short span of time, a good number of Madrasas and Libraries were opened not only in the U.T of Jammu and Kashmir but also in the other parts of India and helped to bring the Muslim Ummah under a single banner. Besides that Maulana Dawoodi has attended many National and International religious conferences and presently Maulana Dawoodi is the preacher at Kabamarg Anantnag- a shrine in South Kashmir where there is Holy Relic of Prophet Muhmmad ﷺ
The Sout-ul-Awliya has presently a good number of departments namely Darsi-Nizami, Hifzu-Nasir, Darul Ift-ul- Qaza, Sout-ul-Awliya library, School of thought (Dawat-e-Tableeq), trust, Health Centre and centre for custodian and preaching, etc. All these centres are functional and are performing satisfactorily.
Maulana Davoodi did his best to spread the message of Saints by constructing Masjids and Madrasas in every corner of Kashmir valley and outside. He made a single platform of various religious scholars and alumni and formed the Scholars council which are doing research in various religious fields to flourish and spread the message of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Baiet –wa-Khilafat (Allegiance and obligation) Maulana Dawoodi is a staunch follower of lineage of Silsil-e-Qadri with affiliation and allegiance with his teacher Sofi Nizam-u-Din. Maulana Dawoodi was allowed to move forward the movement of sout-ul-Awliya by the renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Ala Hazrat Allama Akhtar Raza Azhari.
Maulana Davoodi has thousands of followers which include young and old who had allegiance and are committed followers of the movement Sout-ul-Awliya.
On first November 2018A.D Maulana Dawoodi was conferred ‘Imam-e-Razan Award’ by Ahmad Raza Movement Banglore and in 2017 he was conferred with the title ‘Fakhri-e-Ahal’ Award by Darasgah Noorani Tachloo Kulgam. On the 11th of July 2011, the renowned scholar of India Mufti Abdul Manan Kilimi honoured Dawoodi with the title ‘Fateh-e-Kashmir’. In the year 2020 Alama Aliyas Attari Qadri conferred him with the title ‘Mohsini-Ahli-Sunnt’.
Maulana Dawoodi is presently heading the movement (Sout-ul-Awliya) and is taking care of all institutions affiliated with the movement with its head office at Bhagi-Nowgam Anantnag.
To infer it is worth mentioning here that Maulana Dawoodi has left no stone unturned to teach the fundamentals of Islam with special focus on the teachings of prophet Mohammad ﷺ and also spread the message of Sufi Saints and Rishis. Maulana Dawoodi is a staunch follower of Reshi and Qadri Silsila which is obvious from his writings. The opponents tried their best to put hurdles to his movement and to achieve this, Maulana Dawoodi was even attacked with grenade and bullets. But this does not impede him to preach the fundamentals of Islam and preaching of Allah SWT and his Prophet Muhmmad ﷺ. We pray to Allah to protect Maulana Dawoodi and bless him with the choicest blessings and gave him determination and self-confidence to spread the knowledge of Allah, Prophets, Saints and Rishis with passion and enthusiasm.
